I was reading a book and it prompted me to write this:
One More
You hear it,
every day,
So loud,
So menacing,,
Yet it goes unnoticed.
You see them,
People,
People you know,
People you don't,
Walking in,
Happily
Knowing too few will stumble out,
only to be trampled to the ground,
by those going in.
"One more going to his death"
You say, as you see them going in.
"One more successfully destroyed"
You say, as you see them stumble out.
Too few join you,
Never entering the machine,
The destructive machine,
of the civilized world.

This is a poem i saw at school. It is so simple and so true:
Look To this Day
Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement
Are but experiences of time.
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

More Poetry
I wrote this a while ago, but I still think it one of my best poems
Presumptions
I do not presume to know the way life works,
Why people die and why people live.
I do not presume to understand love,
How it is created and how it is destroyed,
The depths to which it goes,
the distances it can travel.
I will not attempt to explain the emotions we feel.
Nor do I presume to know the emotions others are experiencing,
Or the reason they are experiencing them.
I presume to know only what I feel,
What I see,
What I hear,
Hoping that I have interpreted these correctly.
What do you think?

Faith
I was reading Job the other day, and was amazed by the faith of the man.
He looses his family, hi health, he is in constant pain, and he can say things like this:
Job 19:25-27
I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!
Would you be able to say something like that in a similar condition?

Poetry
I wrote this the other day at school, I hope you like it.
Has it been 4 years or 40
Since I first sat in one of these chairs
Waiting with anticipation,
To receive my reward.
The one I worked to earn.
It seems like yesterday that I was,
But a lifetime ago,
That I was nieve enough,
To believe,
That it actually counted for something,
In the grand scheme of all that life is.
A bit of paper,
A bit of ink,
A year of hard work,
But what was accomplished,
That will last a lifetime.
Championship trophies will one day collect dust, and be forgotten.
But to see the face,
Of one that has been set free,
From fear and pain,
Is a reward to which none compares,
And which will never be forgotten.
Gold medals are wonderful things,
But without family and friends,
What are they actually worth?
Then I wrote a christian version:
Has it been 4 years or 40
Since I first sat in one of these chairs
Waiting with anticipation,
To receive my reward.
The one I worked to earn.
It seems like yesterday that I was,
But a lifetime ago,
That I was nieve enough,
To believe,
That it would make a difference,
In kingdom of heaven.
A bit of paper,
A bit of ink,
A year of hard work,
But what was accomplished,
That will last a lifetime.
Championship trophies will one day collect dust, and be forgotten.
But to see the face,
Of one that has found the Lord,
From fear and pain,
Is a reward to which none compares,
And which will never be forgotten.
Gold medals are wonderful things,
But without family and friends,
What are they actually worth?
I like them both.

Your actions do not only affect you
In a book by Tracie Peterson called Silent Star, this is writen:
People is pain often do not understand the wounds they give others. They lash out, cutting and maining. Mindless of their actions because they are blinded by the anguish that fills their souls.
It is true. How often do we hurt someone because we have ourselves been hurt. If a wrong has been done to us we lash out at our friends simlpy because they are there for us, often harming or ruining relationships and friendships.
In the same book it is writen:
Jesus knows the wound others have given you. He knows it’s depth and width. He knows the pain. But he also knows how to mend this wound – how to make your heart whole again.
This is also true. so next time you find yourself hurting, turn the situation over to God. It will prevent further harm from being done to you and those that are most important in your life.

finding true freeedom
I found this prayer after many attempts and web searches.
God of justice, God of mercy, bless all those who are surprised with pain this day from suffering caused by their own weakness or that of others. Let what we suffer teach us to be merciful; let our sins teach us to forgive. This we ask through the intercession of Jesus and all who died forgiving those who oppressed them.
Amen
By Phyllis Tickle
a short version of this prayer was printed in Lynn Austins book (All she ever wanted)
